If you are preparing for your MCSE (Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer) exams, you may be looking for study guides to help you pass the exams. There are many options for you when it comes to study guides including web-based sites that you can study online, websites that sell downloadable PDF versions of study guides, and physical print version of study guides that you can read and study anywhere.
The MCSE is the holy grail of Microsoft certification. There are a relatively small number of IT professionals who have actually earned their MCSE. It shows the commitment and knowledge of those who have obtained their certification. In order to earn the title of MCSE, you must pass a total of seven grueling exams. These exams are not all the typical multiple-choice exams (some of them are, though). There are also exams that include simulation questions where you are presented with a virtual computer and you must perform a series of tasks in the correct order. Your movements and actions are recorded and scored. This tests your ability to be able to work through a problem and solve complicated tasks. The other type of test presents you with a long narrative scenario that you must read through. You must then solve the issues in the scenario by answering a long series of questions about that scenario.
There are study guides that you can purchase that will help you prepare for these different types of questions and exams. You have to shop around before you decide which study guides you want to buy since some of them may not fit with your style of study. For example, if you don't like reading on your computer, you may opt for printed books or downloadable PDFs that you can print out on your own.
Also look for the guarantee that comes with each product. Some products guarantee that you will pass the exam with a certain score while others just guarantee that you will be happy with your study guides. They may offer a 30-day money back guarantee. In either case, you may want to buy one or two study guides and try them out before you spend too much money on a bunch of study guides that don't help you.
Study guides are only part of the equation, though. You will also want to get some practice exams to try out. The best ones are online practice exams which have the same look and feel as the real exams. This will better help you pass your exams the first time. The practice exams will be timed just like the real exams so you also get a feel for how long (or how short!) a period of time you have to complete each test. This will all make you feel more relaxed and confident when you take your test.
You may also want to invest in some practice lab exercises along with your study guides. A large part of MCSE study is actual hands-on lab practice. You can buy a CD or download software that includes lab practice exercise you can use alongside your study guides. This helps to give you practical, hands-on experience with the exam subject matter. People who attend school or boot camps get many hours of practical, hands-on lab time so you will want to take advantage of this as well. Simply reading through the study guide may not be enough to pass the exam.
So, as you prepare to take your exams to get you MCSE certification, study guides may only be part of the equation. You will also want to consider practice exams to help you prepare for the Microsoft exams. Then, you may also want to consider practice lab exercises as well. These labs will give you practical, hands-on experience with some of the principles and concepts you are required to know as an MCSE.
